This week’s featured cat landed at the Erath County Humane Society after her owner died.

This week’s featured cat up for adoption at the Erath County Humane Society is Pebbles, a three-year-old female domestic shorthair Calico that comes with a really sad story.

“She was surrendered because her person passed away,” ECHS executive director Serena Wright told Beneath the Surface News. “He was her world and she has not known anyone else.

“Pebbles is very shy, but is starting to warm up to us. She will hiss when you try to pet her, but she doesn't lash out.”

Pebbles is litter box trained and microchipped and would do well in a quiet environment. This week’s featured dog is also named Pebbles.

She is a one-year-old female Shepherd/Hound mix.

“She is a little shy, but loves to play,” Serena said. “She is good with other dogs, but not cats.”

Pebbles-the-dog is still being potty trained.

“She is still very puppy-like and needs space to run around or someone who will take her out often to play,” Serena said. “She would do best in a home without small children because she likes to use her paws to get attention and doesn't realize that her feet are large.”

Pebbles is spayed, fully vaccinated and microchipped.

She has been at the shelter since October 2022.
