Take a flying leap and apply for the Chamber of Commerce’s Leadership Stephenville program.

Yeah, that's me, missing the bar by a mile.

It’s been 15 years since I jumped off that perch and tried to grab the trapeze that floated overhead.

It was the first official day for the Leadership Stephenville Class of 2008 and little did I know that taking that initial leap would lead me to countless memories, lasting friendships and valuable information that would serve me well in my career as a journalist.

By the way, I missed grabbing ahold of the trapeze that day, but I’ve never forgotten the experience.

Leadership Stephenville is a program sponsored by the Stephenville Chamber of Commerce which challenges participants to make a difference in the community while preparing them to become the leaders of tomorrow.

Participants take part in nine full-day sessions focused on developing leadership skills and gaining a better understanding of local infrastructure, city government and volunteer associations.

Each class works together on a project that will benefit the community.

"Going through the leadership program back in 2000 to 2001 when I was working for an agriculture association was such an amazing experience that opened my eyes to so many aspects of the community and helped me determine where I could invest my time and talents to make a difference," said Chamber CEO/President July Danley.

"Now, facilitating the program with the help of all our enthusiastic alumni is one of the absolute favorite parts of my role at the Chamber. It is so rewarding to see participants gain valuable knowledge, experience and relationships that enable them to serve and lead more impactfully in our community."

For me, taking part in Leadership Stephenville was one of the most worthwhile experiences I’ve ever had and I can’t encourage you enough to apply.

The Chamber is now accepting applications for the 2023-2024 class. The deadline to apply is Aug. 1. More details about the program and a link to the application form can be found HERE.
