Jason and Maddie Smith and their two kids.

To the Stephenville community,

Stephenville isn’t just where we live, it’s our home. It’s where my wife and I chose to raise our two kids, and where we’ve spent the last 15 years building our lives right alongside so many of you.

I’m running for the Stephenville ISD Board of Trustees because I care about our community, our schools, our teachers, and the future of all our students.

I didn’t enter this race with a predetermined agenda. I entered it ready to listen.

What I’ve already heard from our teachers and community is helping shape where we go from here, and I’m committed to working alongside educators, parents, and community members to make thoughtful, informed decisions that move our district forward.

Over the past several weeks, I’ve reached out to dozens of SISD teachers and staff to hear directly from them.

The survey sent to them is now available to everyone here and I welcome all of you to participate.

While perspectives vary, one message has been consistent: we must do a better job supporting our educators and creating an environment that makes great teachers want to stay.

Strong schools start with strong teachers, and that must remain a priority.

If elected, my focus will be simple:

• Prioritize keeping great teachers in our classrooms

• Keep our students at the center of every discussion

• Ensure responsible, transparent decision making

• Build trust through open communication and community input

Stephenville has a long-standing tradition of excellence across academics, agriculture, athletics, band, college or career prep, fine arts, technical programs, and many others that support student success.

We are the City of Champions for a reason.

My goal is to help preserve that tradition while continuing to guide the district in a way that plans for growth and reflects the values of our community.

I don’t claim to have all the answers, but I will show up, put in the work and approach every decision with integrity, common sense, and a commitment to doing what’s best for Stephenville ISD.

My perspective is shaped by more than 20 years in higher education, working directly with educators and mentoring students, and I will bring that experience to every decision I make.

I would be honored to earn your support.

Jason Smith
