SMSC welcomes 2 new physicians specializing in family practice to its medical team.

The Stephenville Medical and Surgical Clinic has announced that two new providers specializing in family practice will soon join the practice.
Dr. Alexandra Mitchell (formerly Huckabee) is a Stephenville native who has moved back to the area from Waco where she worked in family practice and taught instructional courses for the past few years
She will begin her practice with SMSC on July 7.
“Dr. Mitchell is passionate about providing compassionate, evidence-based care for everyone in your family,” her bio states.
“She sees patients of all ages, and has special interests in outpatient procedures, newborn care and breastfeeding medicine.”
Dr. Brent Fowler is a board-certified family physician with fellowship training in sports medicine.
He is moving back to his hometown of Iredell and will join the clinic Aug. 1.
“Dr. Fowler provides compassionate, full-spectrum care for patients of all ages – from newborns to elderly adults – with a focus on building lasting relationships and helping families stay healthy through every stage of life,” his bio states.
Dr. Fowler completed his residency in Casper, Wyoming where he served as chief resident.
He then completed a sports medicine fellowship in San Antonio where he gained advanced skills in musculoskeletal injury care, ultrasound-guided joint injections and fracture management.
Both providers are set up to take most commercial insurance plans and are now accepting new patients.
They will be working at SMSC and its Community Health Clinic, which takes same-day appointments and sick visits.
Dr. Fowler, along with Dr. Clayton Roberts, will also see patients at the new clinic expansion in Glen Rose beginning Sept. 1.
