Reader asks when booster for Moderna vaccine will become available. This is what I found out.

One of my favorite readers, Lynne Hamilton, had a special request; she wanted me to find out when the booster will become available for those who had the Moderna vaccine.

Lynne is just the sweetest lady and always has a kind word to say, so I was more than happy to help.

Of course, I turned to my trusted friend and the city’s health authority Dr. Kelly Doggett and this is what he told me.

“The Moderna booster could be approved as soon as October 20th, when the CDC Vaccines Advisory Committee meets again. It could take longer depending on review of the data.

“(The booster) will likely be administered at one-half the amount of the original vaccine. Studies show that the reduced dosage still produces a robust increase in antibody levels.

“It will most likely follow the recommendations applied to the Pfizer vaccine.”

The first to get the booster will likely be those over the age of 65, those with compromised immune systems and frontline workers.

So there’s your answer, Lynne.
