Stephenville police are still working to figure out exactly what led to Sunday’s shooting on Lingleville Road that landed one man in the hospital.

“What we know is that this started as a road rage incident between two males,” Asst. Police Chief Jason Halsey told BTS News. “We have both parties identified and we are working with the DA’s office to analyze the video (of the incident) and witness statements. This is a complex case and we want to get it right.”

Halsey said the incident involved a passenger car and truck.

“We think one of the vehicles did not follow a traffic law and it upset the other driver,” Halsey said. “There was some brake-checking and honking and both vehicles stopped in the middle of the road.”

At some point, at least one shot was fired striking one of the men in the arm. That man was taken to Harris Methodist Hospital where he was treated and released.

Halsey said the men’s identities will not be released until the investigation is complete and the district attorney’s office makes a determination on what charges will be filed.
