Man arrested for allegedly firing gun in domestic dispute, then preventing victim from calling 911.
An Erath County man was taken into custody Tuesday after allegedly firing a shotgun during a domestic dispute.
According to a press release from the Erath County Sheriff’s Office, the department received a call that a shot had been fired inside a residence in the 800 block of CR 491 near Rocky Point Church.
When investigators arrived on scene, they found Byron Dean Koonsman in possession of a shotgun he had allegedly fired during a domestic disturbance.
Koonsman allegedly stopped the victim, identified only as a family member, from calling 911. No one was injured in the incident.
Koonsman has been arrested and charged with interfering with an emergency request for assistance.
He is being held at the Erath County Jail.
Bond has not been set.
