Limited report on new Covid cases show 12 Christmas Eve hospitalizations.

As families tried to put aside the virus that has crippled life as normal for a few days, Christmas was anything but enjoyable for the families of hospital patients being treated for Covid-19.

The first official numbers released by Erath County officials three days after Christmas included six new cases; five in Stephenville and one in the county.

The report, however, only contains numbers from one source through Christmas Eve.

Erath County emergency management coordinator Susan Driskill said the full report with numbers from the holiday weekend will be released on Tuesday.

Monday’s report showed there were 12 Covid-related hospitalizations at Texas Health Stephenville on Christmas Eve.

Experts say to expect a post-Christmas surge of new cases in the coming days, followed by another round in the aftermath of New Year’s Eve celebrations.
