A man found guilty of assaulting an Erath County sheriff's deputy was sentenced on Monday to 10 years in the penitentiary by District Court Judge Jason Cashon.
In September, a jury found David Junior Moore guilty of assaulting Deputy Tye Box in a Walmart parking lot in 2019.
During the two-day trial, District Attorney Alan Nash showed jurors footage from Box’s body camera that showed a violent struggle that ended with Box and Moore fighting on the ground and bystanders rushing in to help.
Box was taken to a hospital where he was treated for a concussion, scrapes and a fat lip.
