Erath County Judge Alfonso Campos said in a news release Monday that the recent surge in new COVID cases is part of a trend across Central Texas.

“Through last Friday, June 12, Erath and its neighboring counties reported the following positive cases/deaths from the virus: Somervell County 2/0; Eastland County 7/0; Bosque County 7/0; Hamilton County 11/1; Comanche County; 12/1; Palo Pinto County 14/2; Hood County 35/4; Erath County 36/1; Parker County 112/1,” Campos said.

Seven Erath County residents were diagnosed with the virus on Monday, bringing the total to 43 since the pandemic began.

“Today’s new cases include one patient hospitalized while the other five are home and in isolation,” Campos said.

The status of today's seventh patient is not known.
