"Rejoice with your family in the beautiful land of life." - Albert Einstein

I rejoiced with mine this weekend at Austin’s beautiful Omni Barton Creek Resort & Spa.

The girls-only trip, which included my daughter, four sisters-in-law and three nieces was to celebrate my mother-in-law’s extra special birthday. (If she wants to tell you how old she is, I’ll let her do it.)

Barton Creek’s spa is a place I’ve wanted to visit for years and I was thrilled when the group decided to make it our weekend destination.

Nestled in Austin’s beautiful hill country, this sprawling resort oozes serenity. I was up early every morning and didn’t waste time lounging in bed.

We shared rooms, so I I quietly crept out of mine and made my way downstairs to sip coffee on the patio overlooking the stunning view.

Austin, of course, is surrounded by fantastic stuff to do, but the best thing is that you never have to leave the resort if you don’t want to.

There’s seven restaurants and lounges, including the signature Bob’s Steak & Chop House where we enjoyed dinner on our final night (get the scallops).

Breakfast every morning was at Texas Spice, which offers healthy options like avocado toast (I had it both mornings) and a delicious acai bowl, as well as the regular fare you’d expect to see.

Our two days at the resort were spent enjoying an afternoon at Mokara Spa. The facility is so large that it was able accommodate nine massages at the same time.

The spa included everything you would expect at a high-end resort: Fuzzy robes, sauna, cold shower, how tub and tranquil room along with a private rooftop pool and restaurant just for spa-goers.

It was heaven.

The resort’s three pools (including one that’s adult-only) offers full, top-notch service by friendly wait staff committed to making your stay absolutely perfect.

Poolside cocktails were accompanied by a light lunch and tons of laughter.

If you’re looking for a quick summer escape, head to Barton Creek Spa & Resort where you'll leave rested, refreshed and with a full heart.

Note: Omni Barton Creek Resort & Spa in Austin is only a short 2 1/2-hour drive from Stephenville.

We aren’t golfers, but this place has four stunning golf courses that made us wish we were.
