‘I want someone to lead our community that I am proud of.’

Brady Pendleton

When I was a child, I loved going to canyons, caves, or mountain ranges to shout, “Hello! My name is Micah Lesley! Have a wonderful day!” I loved how I could hear my echo continue on and on until it was faint in the backdrop.

Now that I’m an adult, I still love to “visit” places to shout the same statement and hear the echo of my voice. There is something childlike in this action that makes me smile and remember the innocence of being a child. Just like holding your arms out straight and throwing your head back, spinning in circles until you got dizzy, and falling down (without breaking a bone or knocking something out of joint). Awww! The simple things in life where you didn’t have the worries faced as an adult.

Now that I’m an adult, I have the wisdom not to throw my arms out and spin in circles, get dizzy, and fall down. Because now I would definitely injure myself. With life’s experiences and with age, you gain wisdom…wisdom in Faith of our Dear Lord and Savior…wisdom in the greater knowledge of what is right from wrong…wisdom that there are obstacles in life and to never give up (no matter what you face)…wisdom in knowing yourself and what you stand for…wisdom in also knowing what you stand against…wisdom to walk away from those that continually hurt you…wisdom to love those more that love you…wisdom that it’s okay to be you…wisdom in trusting those to believe in…wisdom to recognize you can make a difference… wisdom in electing leaders to better this world…it’s how you choose to use the wisdom you gain to make others and your life a better place.

Just as I stated previously, now that I’m an adult, I still love to “visit” places to shout the same statement and hear the echo of my voice. I purposely put quotation marks around “visit.” I don’t want that to be the norm or everyday of my life where I only hear my voice echoing back to me. Especially on matters that effect my family, friends, and community.

Unfortunately, Stephenville has been experiencing an echo of voices…although there is not a canyon, cave, or mountain range within the city limits of Stephenville.

Then, how can an echo be happening? Simply stated, an echo is created when sound waves hit an obstacle and bounce back. Hmmm…an obstacle…what can be the obstacle in our wonderful community? I believe it is our leadership from our current mayor, Doug Svien.

I want someone to lead our community…who believes in Stephenville and that chooses Stephenville each and EVERY day! I want someone to lead our community and wants to raise future generations here in Stephenville! I want someone to lead our community and hear my voice and allow me to share my wisdom without being shrugged off like an echo. I want someone to lead our community to be strong enough to say “Yes” or “No” when it might be the unpopular answer, but the right answer! I want someone to lead our community that cares about our town, schools, our past, our present, and our future.

I want someone to lead our community who stood behind the businesses of Stephenville during Covid and will stand behind the businesses of Stephenville for whatever obstacle we may face in the future. I want someone to lead our community that stands behind his word and doesn’t waver! I want someone to lead our community that I am proud of!

I am very relieved to know that Stephenville is very fortunate to have Brady Pendleton as a candidate for Mayor that doesn’t want to be the echo in your everyday life. A man that wants to be your voice in the community…a voice for each and every citizen of Stephenville and not just a select few.

Brady Pendleton is a candidate for Mayor that is FROM Stephenville and can honestly state that his HOMETOWN is Stephenville because he GREW UP in Stephenville, GRADUATED from Stephenville High School, and GRADUATED from Tarleton State University IN Stephenville. After Law School, he moved back to Stephenville to practice law, raise his family, and start businesses within Stephenville.

I want Brady Pendleton for Mayor because I know he is the leader I am looking for our wonderful community of Stephenville! Please join me and vote Brady Pendleton for Mayor of Stephenville!

Sincerely,

Micah (Lesley) Russell
