A judge will soon decide what happens next in the Campos-Barrier saga brewing at the Erath County Courthouse.
County judge Alfonso Campos has filed a petition to have county treasurer Kimberly Barrier removed from office due to what he alleges is “incompetency.”
Barrier and her attorneys are fighting back, stating that not only did Campos file the petition incorrectly, but that he has overstepped his authority.
Judge Stephen Ellis will hold a hearing at 9 a.m. Wednesday, June 23, at the Donald R. Jones Justice Center to decide if Barrier should temporarily be removed from office pending a jury trial.
If Barrier is removed from office, Judge Ellis could appointment a temporary replacement to fill the role of county treasurer.
