Erath County saw a quick spike in the number of cases of COVID-19 this week, with nine new cases reported on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.

The positive tests make 25 in the county since the pandemic began.

Dr. Kelly Doggett, the city’s health authority, told BTS News that the majority of those new cases are linked.

“Most of these are groups that have been exposed to each other; family and friends,” Dr. Doggett said.

None of the patients have been hospitalized and are in self-quarantine.

“Even though our economy is opening up and people are out and about, we must still remember to follow the CDC guidelines to prevent the spread of COVID,” Stephenville Mayor Doug Svien said.

There are eight active cases of coronavirus in the county.
