Emergency management coordinator says there is only one active case of COVID-19 in Erath County.

By SARA VANDEN BERGE

Erath County learned Monday that a 14th person has tested positive for COVID-19, making it the only active case in the area.

The patient resides in the rural part of the county.

“The patient has not been hospitalized and has been in isolation at home since onset of symptoms,” Driskill said. “Whether the case is travel related or community spread is under investigation at this time.”

County officials are keeping a close eye on the number of local cases.

Because Erath County only had two active cases of coronavirus last week, businesses are allowed to operate at 50% capacity.

But that could change, Driskill said, if there are five consecutive testing/tracking intervals with positivity rates greater than 12% in that interval, the county has more than three positive cases per 1,000 residents or less than 15% of the surge capacity in hospitals for the catchment area is available.

A free mobile testing site for residents experiencing symptoms is happening from 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. today at Cornerstone Assembly of God Church in Stephenville.
