Dog that loves children and cat that needs a stable home are this week's featured pets.
One of this week’s featured pets up for adoption at the Erath County Humane Society is Coco, a four to five-year-old female American Pit Bull Terrier mix.
“Coco loves children and is amazing with them,” ECHS executive director Serena Wright told Beneath the Surface News. “When fostered during the cold weather, she enjoyed cuddling up on the couch. She has done well with larger dogs, but has shown aggression toward smaller dogs and cats.
"She doesn't like being left alone outside and will jump the fence or dig out when she’s bored.”
Coco is well-behaved indoors and potty trained.
“She is very treat-motivated and will show off to get one,” Serena said.
Coco is spayed, microchipped, heart worm negative and on prevention.
She has been at the shelter since July 2021.
Princess is a 12-year-old female domestic shorthair cat.
“She was surrendered when her owner could no longer care for her,” Serena said. “We tracked her microchip and found that she has had several owners in her lifetime.”
Princess was born in Oregon and was passed to several families before landing in Texas.
“She does well with other cats and children, but has never been around dogs,” Serena said. “She enjoys lounging around and keeping to herself and if her surroundings get too loud, she will hide.”
Princess needs to find a stable home to spend the rest of her life in comfort. She is spayed, microchipped and litter box trained.
If you would like to meet Coco, Princess or the other 80 dogs and 39 cats that need homes, stop by the animal shelter located at 891 East Road in Stephenville.
