Dodge, duck, dip, dive and dodge: Get your team together for this year’s dodgeball tournament.
The five rules of Dodgeball according to the movie with the same name are simple: Dodge, duck, dip, dive and dodge.
Turns out I wasn’t really great at ducking, dipping, diving or dodging, but that didn’t stop me from loving the game.
I was a child of the 80s, after all, and recess often meant a rousing game of dodgeball on the playground.
My heart would pound as I stood in the center of the circle trying my hardest from getting pinged with the ball.
And when I did, I’d get furious, fantasizing about how when it was my turn, I would fling that ball hard enough to ricochet off my opponent’s head and knock ‘em out of play.
Head shots are frowned upon, by the way, but good sportsmanship has never been one of my strong points.
If you love dodgeball as much as I do, get a team signed up for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Erath County’s annual tournament, which will be held Saturday, April 1, at SPARD’s Rec Hall.
Check-in begins at 8 a.m.
The cost to enter a six-player team is $300, but you better hurry because registration ends March 15.
If you think you have what it takes to dodge, duck, dip, dive and dodge, get a team together and get registered here.
