Community invited to ceremony marking 21-year anniversary of 9-11.

Tarleton State University, the city of Stephenville and Erath County invite the community to a ceremony on the 21st anniversary of 9-11 to commemorate the nation’s loss and resilience following terrorist attacks that took the lives of nearly 3,000 Americans.
The event takes place at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Clyde H. Wells Fine Arts Center. Admission is free.
Tarleton President James Hurley and the first family will open the ceremony and Stephenville Police Chief Dan Harris will keynote.
“Each September 11 is a time to remember that life is a gift and that true community is being connected to something greater than ourselves,” Dr. Hurley said. “Our continued remembrance is a reminder of the sacrifice and the enduring legacy of those who lost their lives that day and the vigilance required to keep our nation safe.”
The Stephenville Fire Department and Tarleton Corps of Cadets will post colors, and the Texan Troubadours, under the direction of Dr. Troy Robertson, will perform.
Park free in Lot P6 just off Cain Street. Students in Tarleton Serves will assist.
A field of American flags memorializing the victims will be on display from Sept. 9-18 at the O.A Grant Amphitheater.
