City council passes resolution to name stage of Birdsong Amphitheater after this local businessman.

When next year’s summer concert series arrives at Stephenville City Park, musicians will perform on The Doug Montgomery Stage.

The city council on Tuesday passed a resolution to name the stage at Birdsong Amphitheater after the man who began the Texstar Ford Summer Concert Series back in 2000.

Montgomery was on hand for Tuesday’s meeting and spoke to the council after the resolution was passed.

He credited Larry Joe Taylor for coming up with the idea to start the summer concert series and thanked the city and staff for supporting it for the past 22 years.

“Thank you all for a great honor,” Montgomery said. “I appreciate it.”
