Chemist mom’s summer skin secrets: From sunscreen, bronzer and coconut facial mist to an anti-bacterial spray.

As a chemist and mom, I’ve learned that summer skincare works best when it’s simple.

Between the Texas heat, pool days, sports practices, vacations and long hours outdoors, many people assume they need more products to keep their skin looking healthy.

In reality, it’s all about using fewer products that work harder.

The right products can save time and money, protect skin from damage and keep it looking healthy and youthful without a complicated routine.

I’ve rounded up more than 17 of my favorite summer skincare and hair care products on Chemistry Cachet.

While that complete guide includes everything from hair care to body care, I wanted to share a few of my favorite summer essentials that I reach for again and again during Texas summers.

If there is one product I refuse to skip, it’s this 2-in-1 mineral sunscreen.

It works for the entire family (and is 50% off right now with code alexisroch).

I love that it works for both adults and kids, making it much easier to simplify summer routines.

Whether you’re headed to the pool, lake, a baseball game or simply spending time outdoors, mineral sunscreen is the most important anti-aging product you can use.

This one is also formulated to hydrate and even fights signs of aging.

Most signs of premature aging including wrinkles, dark spots and loss of firmness are heavily influenced by UV exposure, which is why daily sunscreen remains the foundation of healthy skin.

Another summer favorite beauty trick is using a bronzer that is also mineral SPF 50 (also on sale for 50% off right now code: alexisroch).

This product is like my favorite mineral sunscreen mentioned above, but it gives skin a beautiful sun-kissed glow while also providing protection.

I use it on my legs, arms, shoulders, and chest when I’m spending time outdoors.

What makes it stand out is that it doesn’t leave behind orange streaks, heavy color or the look of a traditional self-tanner. Instead, it creates a natural-looking glow while simplifying your routine.

You can see the application of this in our video.

For busy moms or women on the go, that’s a win-win.

Another product I keep nearby is a hydrating coconut facial mist.

I use it first thing in the morning before skincare, after spending time outside, and throughout the day whenever my skin needs a quick refresh.

It’s lightweight, cooling and provides an easy way to add hydration without adding another complicated step to your routine.

Many people spend time and money on skincare products, but forget about the bacteria that can build up on makeup brushes, beauty tools, and even the skin itself.

One of my favorite lesser- known products is hypochlorous acid spray.

This gentle spray can be used on beauty tools and skin to help minimize unwanted bacteria that may contribute to irritation or breakouts. It’s simple, effective and one of those products many people have never heard of but quickly learn to love.

As a chemist, I appreciate products that solve multiple problems without adding complexity and this is one of them.
