When it was all said and done Saturday night, voters decided that Sherrie Evans should remain on the Stephenville ISD Board of Trustees and elected Chad Elms as its newest member.

In the race for place 2, incumbent Sherrie Evans received 1,140 total votes while her opponent Mandy O’Neal received 937.

“I would like to thank everyone for their support,” Evans told Beneath the Surface News. “It is an honor to serve you.”

In the race for place 3, Chad Elms received 1,402 total votes while Sonia Sandford received 683.

“I am extremely honored and humbled God has blessed me with the opportunity to represent the Stephenville community in Place 3. I am not only grateful for all the support I have received, but I’m thankful to all those who entrusted me with their vote,” Elms said.

“I want to recognize Sonia Sandford and her team on a tough, competitive race. I commend her willingness to serve our students and am honored to have gotten to know her through this process.

“Now, it’s time for me to get to work for the students, teachers and community of Stephenville ISD. I look forward to rolling up my sleeves to pursue the building of a culture of leadership and excellence, as well as the pursuit of the patriotic and traditional values that our great country was founded upon.”

Sandford said that while she is disappointed in the outcome, campaigning was an honor.

“It has been an honor to visit with so many people who believe in the importance of a great school district,” she said. “I will actively continue to support our students, teachers and trustees as this district strives for excellence.”
