I’m still smiling since finishing Beneath the Book Club’s June read: The Retirement Plan by Sue Hincenbergs.
If you want a fun, entertaining read with zero slow mo, this debut novel is for you.
The Retirement Plan tells the story of a long-term friendship between four couples whose dreams of a comfortable retirement are dashed when the husbands lose their money in a bad investment.
When one of the husbands is found dead and his wife Marlene inherits over $1 million and relocates to a comfy condo in Florida, a light bulb goes off.
When the other three women – Pam, Nancy and Shalise – learn their husbands have similar life insurance policies, it doesn’t take long for them to begin planning their demise.
(After all, hell hath no fury like a woman scorned by leftover pad thai.)
What follows is a hilarious tale of a hired hit man, casino heist and love gone wrong.
I enjoyed this book on audible and couldn’t listen fast enough. I listened in the car, on my morning walks and in the bathtub.
It was absolutely fantastic and I am giving it my first 10/10.
