May is Skin Cancer Awareness Month and this is the third in a series of stories highlighting products that can protect you from harmful UV rays and the possibility of getting skin cancer.

I was recently treated for squamous cell carcinoma and after sharing my story, readers sent me a list of products I am using in hopes of reducing my chance of re-occurrence.

I’m sharing a few of my favorites with you.

Blue Lizard mineral sunscreen was recommended to me by my long-time friend Arlene Holland, who had a pre-cancerous spot removed from her face several years ago.

Her dermatologist recommended this sunscreen and she has used it ever since.

After doing a little research, I decided to give it a try and now I’m a fan as well.

The sunscreen glides on smoothly without being greasy or leaving behind a strong scent.

It also stays on for hours (if not in the water).

The only downside is that I don’t like wearing it under my makeup.

I only use it on my face when I am working out in the yard or taking a walk.

Blue Lizard has been making mineral sunscreen for the past 30 years and has partnered with the Skin Cancer Foundation to encourage sun care education and improve skin health through protection, early detection and treatment.

Its SPF 50 sunscreens are formulated for sensitive skin and come in a range of products.

I ordered one with organic aloe and a travel-size “sport” version that I can toss in my purse to keep with me at all times.

If you’re serious about sunscreen, this one is worth trying.
