As major rain event looms, Erath County Humane Society needs emergency fosters.
With Erath County expecting a deluge of rain in the coming days, dogs at the Erath County Humane Society are at risk for proper shelter.
“With severe storms, heavy rain, hail and the possibility of tornadoes headed our way, we need our community’s help,” the shelter stated in a Facebook post.
“Several of our larger shelter dogs currently live in outdoor kennels because we simply do not have enough indoor space. With the amount of rain expected and our shelter located in a low-lying area, we do not want to wait until flooding becomes a problem to get these dogs somewhere safe.”
Shelter officials are looking for emergency fosters who can take a dog for a few days while the storms move through and the water has time to run off.
“You do not need to make a long-term commitment,” the post states.
“A safe place inside your home, a secure garage or another protected and enclosed space could make all the difference for one of these dogs.”
To become a foster, stop by the shelter, located at 891 East Road in Stephenville, between 3-6 p.m.
