As COVID surges across Texas, major retailers mandate face masks for shoppers.

Walmart is among the growing number of retailers requiring its customers to wear face masks.

The Husband and I were in Stephenville’s Walmart a few days ago and noticed some big changes in the way customers are allowed to enter the building.

Customers can only enter through one door (the side closest to the garden center was closed) and through a cordoned off line that allows employees to make sure that masks are being worn.

The new rules didn’t slow us down and employees were quick to get us into the store safely and efficiently.

Other national retailers requiring facemasks include HEB, Costco, Apple Store, Dollar Tree, Verizon, Starbucks and AT&T.

CVS and Walgreens are “encouraging” customers to wear face masks.

Erath County officials learned Wednesday that six more residents have been diagnosed with COVID-19, bringing the total number of cases to 309.

Of those cases, 169 are female and 140 are male and 94 of those patients are between the ages of 20-29.

Local officials are also reporting 157 active cases and a total of 12 hospitalizations.
