A Stephenville High School freshman dies in ATV accident, sheriff’s office says.

A freshman at Stephenville High School was killed shortly after 1 p.m. Sunday when an ATV he was riding on crashed on FM 205.

Chief Deputy Jeremy Woodruff with the Erath County Sheriff’s Office said the 15-year-old victim was a passenger on the 4-wheeler and was ejected when it crashed while trying to manipulate a curve.

He was taken to Texas Health Stephenville where he later died from his injuries.

Woodruff would not release any information on the driver of the ATV citing the pending investigation.

Jayden was a friend of mine. And can’t believe what happened. he was probably the nicest kid I knew. My dad coached me and him on a football team.

It is the McKinney’s who lost their son, Jayden McKinney, who was in the passenger seat of the vehicle. I had only spoken to him once and from me and other classmates he had he was a VERY sweet and kind kid. Jayden was very sweet and was also very caring kid. I cou go on and on about how much he inspired people from the junior high and high school with his personality. Jayden will always be there even if he is not with us. “BE STRONG AND TAKE HEART ALL YOU WHO HOPE IN THE LORD.” PSALM 31:24 Fly high Jayden. We love you so much🤍 sending prayers to the McKinney family🫶🏼
