A delicious sandwich, prime rib special & frosty margarita at Blue Moon 1881 is worth short drive.
The Husband and I can never wait long to try a new restaurant, so when Blue Moon 1881 opened in De Leon last week, we made the short drive over to give it a try.
And I am so glad we did.
We landed at the restaurant about 5:30 p.m. Saturday for an early dinner. We were seated right away, but it wasn’t long before the restaurant was completely full and a line was forming at the front door.
(The good news is that those who had to wait for a table enjoyed a cocktail at the upstairs balcony bar that has pool tables, TVs and plenty of seating.)
With the scorching heat, The Husband and I promptly ordered two Mighty Margaritas, which happened to be on special that night for $5.
They were fantastic; served in a chilled, oversized schooner with the perfect blend of lime, tequila and salt.
We sipped on those and enjoyed a Blue Moon onion while we browsed the menu.
The restaurant offers a prime rib special every Saturday night and The Husband couldn’t resist ordering it.
I had withered under the day’s heat, so instead of an entrée, I had a grilled chicken sandwich and sweet potato fries.
The chicken was cooked to perfection with fresh lettuce, tomatoes, onions and pickles. And the bun it was served on was worth the carbs.
For a restaurant that had only been opened a few days, Blue Moon’s friendly staff was equally impressive. We enjoyed great service and delicious food at an incredibly reasonable price.
Blue Moon is casual and fun with plenty of room for big parties, so bring your friends.
The restaurant is open from 11 a.m.-9 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday; 11 a.m.-10 p.m. Friday and Saturday; and 11 am.-2 p.m. on Sunday.
You should give it a try sooner rather than later.
And get the margarita.
