A Christmas trail with more than a million lights is coming to Stephenville City Park. Get excited.

Updated: Nov 28, 2020

Picture this: More than a million Christmas lights lining a 3/4-mile long path winding through the beautiful Stephenville City Park.

As you bundle up and make your way through the twinkling wonderland, you will be greeted by the sights and sounds of the season and breathtaking displays of all things Christmas.

You can even stop and enjoy a hot cup of cocoa or take a photo with Santa.

Sound too good to be true? It’s not.

Light up the Night, hosted by the Erath County United Way, is coming to Stephenville on the first three weekends in December.

“This is a walk-through Christmas light display,” ECUW board member Shelley Gilliland told Beneath the Surface News. “It will start at the amphitheater and have more than a million lights. It’s like nothing we have ever had before.

"Kathy Hampton is chairing the event and it was her idea to bring something like this to Stephenville."

CHRISTMAS DÉCOR BY LONE STAR ELECTRIC

The company bringing the Christmas extravaganza to Stephenville is located in Abilene, Christmas Décor by Lone Star Electric.

“They did something like this for United Way in Abilene last year and it was a huge success,” Shelley said. “They have an incredible passion for Christmas.”

Shelley said the man overseeing the project, Matt Robinson, has already been to Stephenville to map out the trail.

“His vision and creativity are unreal,” she said. “This is going to be something that’s very special.”

And I hope you are as excited about this as I am!
