Jumpstarting my weight loss with a ‘cleanse and reset’ kit. Here’s how it’s going.

Updated: Oct 25, 2021

I’ve always been intrigued with the idea of fasting/cleansing. My good friend Jen swears by it.

For years, she has told me that giving her body a break from food with a one or two-day fast seemed to jumpstart her metabolism, give her more energy and clear her mind.

And while that sounds really great, I’m pretty sure that I don’t have the willpower to just sip water for 48 hours without someone strapping me down to a gurney.

So I opted for a liquid cleanse.

I began my research a few months ago and discovered a three-day “cleanse and reset” kit from Dr. KellyAnn. (You know the Good Morning America lady.)

I didn’t want anything in pill form and I opted for this particular one because it was collagen based and seemed popular among women.

Not all of the reviews were positive and if you don’t like bone broth, this isn’t for you.

But I am increasingly desperate to get this extra weight off and need something to jumpstart my metabolism and motivation.

So “cleanse and reset’ it was.

At $162, the kit isn’t cheap, but you can find promo codes to knock down the price. There is also a one-day kit if you have a problem with commitments.

I knew that three days would be too much for me to do consecutively, so I broke it down to doing one cleanse a week for three weeks. (I have completed two.)

Each kit comes with three lemon sips, one chocolate smoothie (breakfast), one package bone broth (lunch), one collagen super berry smoothie (midday) and one lemon chicken soup (dinner), totaling about 700 calories.

The shakes and soups were enough to keep the hunger pains at bay, but I did get a small headache the first evening, but nothing a little Tylenol couldn’t fix.

I crawled into bed early that night and fell fast asleep.

THE FOLLOWING DAY

I woke up the next morning feeling rested, refreshed and light on my toes. Seriously, I felt light.

The scales reflected it too. I was down three pounds and the bloating was gone.

More importantly, completing the cleanse strengthened my resolve to exercise more and make better food choices.

I lost an addition two pounds after the second cleanse and have managed to keep all of it off.

I will be completing my third cleanse next week.

Obviously, I am not a doctor so I’m not recommending that you rush out to buy this cleanse. It’s not easy and it’s not for everyone.

But I loved the way it made me look and the inner strength I felt after finishing each day.

The experience has left me more committed than ever to lose those additional pounds (about 15 to be exact) and I have joined Optavia with Julie Brinkley as my coach.

I will start the plan at the end of the month and can hardly wait.

Stay tuned.
