This guy was found tied to a post; now he is terrified of people. He needs patience and love.

Galileo

One of this week’s featured pets up for adoption at the Erath County Humane Society is Galileo, a three to four-year-old male Beagle mix.

“He was found tied to a post with a cable,” ECHS executive director Serena Wright told Beneath the Surface News. “This cute fella is not like other dogs. He is extremely afraid of humans, but he is not aggressive in any way.

“He has been able to get fostered a couple of times and we do know he does much better outside the shelter, but is still very weary around people.”

Galileo absolutely loves other dogs and likes being outside to play.

“He would do best in a fenced yard with his buddies,” Serena said. “Once he gets used to you, he will come to you, but whoever adopts this special boy will need lots of patience.”

Galileo is not house trained, but is kennel trained.

Galileo is neutered, fully vaccinated and microchipped. He tested a light positive for heartworm, but has started on a slow kill treatment.

Potential adopters may want to speak to their veterinarian about treatment options.

He has been at the shelter since June.

Don

Don is a five-month-old female domestic shorthair.

“This sweet girl has had a rough start to life,” Serena said. “When she came to us in June, she was covered in lice and extremely emaciated.

“She had an abscess on her leg; it was touch and go for a while."

Don is very vocal and loves to play.

She is spayed, fully vaccinated, wormed microchipped and litterbox trained.

If you would like to meet Galileo, Don or the other 75 dogs and 62 cats that need homes, stop by the shelter located at 891 East Road in Stephenville.
