Tarleton State PD hosts self-defense course for women (and it’s open to the public).

The Tarleton State University Police Department is offering a self-defense course designed specifically for women.

Instructors, Sgt. Amanda Miller and Officer Doug Johnson, will emphasize education and awareness, prevention, risk reduction and avoidance.


The 12-hour course is divided into four sessions and open to students and the public.

Sessions will be held from 6-9 p.m. Sept. 11, 13, 18 and 20 in the Wisdom Gym lobby on the Stephenville campus.


The course is dedicated to teaching concepts and techniques against various types of assault by using easy, effective and proven self-defense tactics.
