Say hi to Rosie. This timid dog needs an owner with patience and a gentle touch.

One of this week’s featured pets at the Erath County Humane Society is Rosie, a two to three-year-old female Shepherd/Husky mix.

“She is a very timid girl that needs someone with a quiet home and gentle touch,” ECHS executive director Serena Wright told Beneath the Surface News. “She was very scared when she got here but has never shown any aggression. She has warmed up substantially, but is still afraid of new people.

“She is a one-person type of dog and may need to be crated or put in another room when visitors are in the home.”

Potential adopters need to understand that Rosie is shy and nervous and will require more one-on-one attention than most dogs.

“She loves to initiate play with other dogs and once she is used to her person, she will play with them as well,” Serena said.

Rosie is spayed, fully vaccinated, microchipped, heartworm negative and on prevention.

Calypso is an eight-month-old female domestic shorthair that also needs a home.

“She is friendly, but doesn’t seem to enjoy the company of other animals,” Serena said. “She does resource guard her food so may need to be fed separately.” Calypso is a lovebug and enjoys human attention, but likes alone time as well.

“She does well with older, gentle children and loves to play and is full of energy,” Serena said.

When not zooming around, Calypso enjoys lounging in a hammock.

She is also spayed, fully vaccinated, microchipped and litter box trained.

If you would like to meet Rosie, Calypso or the other 76 dogs and 40 cats up for adoption, stop by the animal shelter located at 891 East Road in Stephenville.
