(Publishing note: The following responses to questions from Beneath the Surface News appear exactly as they were submitted by the candidate. The answers have not been edited in any way.)

Q. What do you believe is the most important role of the county treasurer?

A. Although there are many roles of the county treasurer, I believe being the chief custodian of all county funds is the most important role. The county treasurer’s responsibility is to receipt and deposit monies received by the county and to disburse monies belonging to the county in accordance with law. The county treasurer verifies and ensures that all monies of the county are accounted for and reported in the proper funds as set in local government code by Texas legislature.

Q. What educational and career experiences in your background make you the most qualified candidate for this position?

A. I received a Bachelor’s in Business Administration in Accounting and a Masters of Business Administration from Tarleton State University. I have 24+ years of experience in accounting, tax, payroll, human resources, and management.

My career experiences have ranged from simplifying and streamlining receipting processes, billing, payroll, and accounting within the general ledger; bank reconciliations; implementing employee procedures; preparing tax returns; managing employees; and researching laws. These are only some of my career experiences.

The last four years have been an eye-opening experience full of accomplishments and challenges. I fully understand all of the detailed business processes involving our revenue streams, investment options, and final approval of the payment process.

Q. Healthy relationships are an important part of any well-functioning organization. Employees and elected officials working for Erath County experienced turmoil and division in 2021 and lots of healing still needs to take place. If elected, what specific measures will you take to begin mending those relationships?

A. My desire is to endeavor to open up communication, cooperation, and transparency with all elected and appointed officials as well as county employees.

All officials should have effective communication and work closely together to ensure the well-being of this county. Should any issues arise then all parties should be able to discuss and correct any errors to ensure the stability of the county.

County government was structured to ensure checks and balances amongst all elected and appointed officials and this structure holds each of us accountable to the citizens who elected each of us to represent this county with our utmost integrity.

Q. If you are re-elected, what would you like to accomplish during your next term?

A. It is an honor and privilege to serve you, the citizens of Erath County. I will continue to protect, improve, and properly report the funding and expenses of the county and will continue to serve each resident of Erath County.

I bring you education, I bring you experience, I bring you expertise, and I bring you integrity. I humbly ask for your vote and continued support.
