Police say there is no information that trouble-makers are headed to Stephenville for protest rally.

Rumors are swirling that trouble-makers are headed to Stephenville to wreak havoc during tonight’s march protesting the death of George Floyd.

But police say they have no information that’s true.

“We have received no information or intel that anyone is coming to cause trouble tonight, but we understand it’s entirely possible,” Asst. Police Chief Jason Halsey said Tuesday afternoon. “If anyone from out-of-town wants to come, they are welcome. But they will have to follow the rules.”

Halsey said there will be a strong police presence at the rally to ensure things remain safe and peaceful. He said rioting will not be tolerated.

“This is going to be a peaceful event, as far as we concerned,” Halsey said.

The rally will begin at 6 p.m. tonight at Jaycee Park.
