You know what would help us get through this coronavirus quarantine?

A square hamburger and a Frosty. From Wendy’s.

The bad news is that the famous quick-service restaurant chain founded by Dave Thomas in 1969 is not yet open in Stephenville.

But the good news is that it’s coming in June.

“We are super excited about opening in Stephenville,” said Glen Brandeburg with Wendy’s. “I have been there several times and we are absolutely thrilled to become part of the community.”

I spoke with Brandeburg by phone this week and he told me that the coronavirus pandemic has slowed, but not halted, construction.

“Our focus right now is safety and keeping our doors open so we can continue to keep our people employed,” he said.

Wendy's is under construction on Washington St.

The new restaurant will be located on a one-acre parcel of land at the corner of Washington and Ollie streets and will include 2,400 square feet of space and seating for 40.

Brandeburg said managers have already been hired to run the new Stephenville restaurant and are currently in training.

He said hiring and training for the remainder of the crew will take place after the restaurant is complete.
