OPINION: The reasons I support Tina Virgin for Stephenville City Council.

I support Tina J. Virgin, RN, DNP for Place 8 in the upcoming Stephenville City Council race.

I have personally witnessed Tina serve as a pillar to this community for the past 20 years, and I believe she possesses the necessary experience and professional aptitude to be elected to, and dutifully serve, this position.

Tina has served as a mentor for nurses and students for the past 15 years, where she provides opportunities, support, and guidance for those wishing to advance their nursing career.

She is a BLS and ACLS instructor for the American Heart Association, an instructor for the Emergency Nurses Association, and a member of Sigma Theta Tau and the American Nurses Association.

She is an exceptionally compassionate caregiver, while supporting humanitarian organizations and efforts such as the American Heart Association and mission trips to provide medical care to rural areas of Honduras.

When the world shut down in 2019 during the emergence of COVID, she was the first in line to volunteer and provide important information through a crisis hotline and work extra shifts to support staff and patients during COVID surges and crises.

She has gladly offered her home to staff, family, and friends in need and is well known for her ongoing supportive efforts.

Her efforts are continually recognized with acclaim, as she has received the Patient Safety Award (2010) and the Community Service Award (2014), as well as special THR recognition for top performance and leadership in her Community Health Improvement Advocate and Clinical Education Specialist role.

One of her highest values is continuing education and a spirit of life-long learning.

This growth mindset is the touchstone of Tina’s personal goal to advocate for the personal growth, development, health, and wellbeing of all citizens in our community.

Her advocacy and activism extend to all ages, with a focus on prioritizing and locating community resources to entirely our town.

As a loving grandmother to her grandchildren, she has a special place in her heart for the safety and betterment of the lives of our youth.

She values efficiency and fiscal responsibility, while aiming to fix what is broken and educate others on how to care for themselves and others around them.

Tina will bring fresh, innovative, and philanthropic ideas to the table, as she believes wholeheartedly in pouring her heart and soul into the civic work she’s built her life’s work on.

She values collaboration and teamwork, aiming for transparency and support with members of our community.

Thank you,

Dana Adams
