Last week’s bomb threat at Stephenville High School was received electronically.

A bomb threat sent to Stephenville High School last Thursday was done so electronically.

Students and faculty were evacuated immediately and the response from local law enforcement was swift.

Captain James Gresham with the Stephenville Police Department said the ATF and Fort Worth Arson arrived at the scene with explosive detection dogs, but found nothing suspicious.

Now the ATF and DPS are working to trace where the threat originated.

Gresham said the threat was likely a hoax that might have come from a student.

“As we have seen, there is nothing about school safety that is funny,” Gresham told Beneath the Surface News. “We will investigate this fully until we get to the bottom of it.”

Last week’s hoax was the latest in a handful of threats targeting Erath County schools over the past few months.
