Keep spiders at bay with this easy-to-make, homemade repellent.

By ALEXIS ROCHESTER

This DIY spider repellent is easy to make and works great to keep spiders away from certain surfaces.

It can be used indoors or out and if you want to learn more about the science behind how it works, be sure to read this blog post on Chemistry Cachet.

Ingredients you need:

1 cup distilled white 5% vinegar

1/2 cup water

2 tbsp concentrated dish soap (I use lemon verbena)

30 drops of thyme oil (must be thyme)

Glass spray bottle

Mix the ingredients in a spray bottle and shake gently before each using.

Step 1: Clean the area where you want to get rid of spiders. This means you need to vacuum out cobwebs and dust.

You must start with a clean space to use this homemade repellent spray.

Step 2: Spray solution all over the area you want to keep the spiders away from. You must spray this solution daily.

I love using this around my garage gym area, around cabinets and outdoor corners of the house.
