Hamilton physician assistant: ‘I always knew I was meant to help people.’

Shelly Boyle

Shelly Boyle has always loved helping others, which is why she chose to make a career of it.

“I’ve known I was going to go into medicine since the 8th grade,” Shelly told Beneath the Surface News. “I always knew I was meant to help people.”

Today, she is a physician assistant at the Hamilton Family Practice Rural Health Clinic.

She joined Hamilton Healthcare System in 2015 and said the hospital’s exceptional reputation and patient satisfaction rates, which are among the highest in the nation, were the driving force behind the decision to relocate her family from Oklahoma to Hamilton.

Shelly earned three undergraduate degrees and a Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies before launching her career.

Hamilton’s rural health clinic provides a variety of services like childhood immunizations, allergy testing and family planning and can treat minor injuries.

“On a typical day I see everything from newborns getting their first wellness checks to 99-year-old patients with chronic conditions,” Shelly said. “I also treat broken bones, remove skin lesions and abscesses and do sutures.

“The Hamilton Healthcare System really cares about its patients and employees. I love working here.”

The clinic is open from 7 a.m.-7 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 7 a.m.-5 p.m. on Friday.
