Erath County Humane Society’s intake reopens on a very limited basis.

It’s been a couple of weeks now since Serena Wright, executive director of the Erath County Humane Society, was forced to make the difficult decision to close the shelter’s intake.

A packed house with no crate availability meant there were no other alternatives, but Serena had hoped that volunteers would be able to begin accepting animals again sooner rather than later.

As it’s turned out, it’s been later.

“We are reopening intake on a limited basis,” Serena told Beneath the Surface News. “We have a waiting list and we call people for owner surrenders when a space becomes available.”

If you are interested in adopting or fostering a dog or cat, stop by the animal shelter located at 891 East Road in Stephenville.
