Early morning accident claims life of 47-year-old Stephenville woman; passenger seriously injured.
It was a devastating start to the day on Tuesday when a three-car accident claimed the life of 47-year-old Stephenville resident Brooke Ann Stone.
Stone was attempting to turn left off Isla Street onto Lingleville Hwy. about 7:30 a.m. when she was struck by a pickup driven by 18-year-old Jace Moore, who was on his way to school.
“It appears that Ms. Stone failed to yield the right-of-way,” Captain James Gresham with the Stephenville Police Department told Beneath the Surface News.
Elijah Green, a 51-year-old passenger in the Civic, was airlifted to a Fort Worth hospital with serious injuries.
Stone was pronounced dead at the scene by Justice of the Peace Shawnee Bass.
After the initial crash, the Civic spun around and collided with a Tahoe driven by 30-year-old Lauren Robbins of Stephenville. She and her four-year-old passenger were uninjured.
The SPD was assisted by the Department of Public Safety and the Erath County game warden who used a drone to take aerial footage of the accident scene to aid in the investigation.
