Big L fire leaves 4 families homeless. Here’s how you can help.

Smoke from the Big L fire could be seen for miles.

Erath and Hood County emergency management departments are coordinating relief efforts for those affected by the Big L wildfire by designating pickup and drop-off locations.


To avoid duplication of supplies, assistance requests and donations should be directed to the agencies/businesses listed below or by calling the office of Erath County Emergency Management at 254-965-1326.

The fire left four families completely homeless and there is a need for RVs that can be used for an extended period of time.


HAY AND FEED If you would like to donate hay or feed, contact Erath County AgriLife Extension Office – Lonnie Jenschke at 254-965-1460. You can also call or go by Triple J Ranch Feeds to purchase feed and have it designated for the Big L Wild Fire Recovery Relief – 254-835-5205, 6611 W US Hwy. 377, Tolar, TX.

FENCING REPAIR To donate fencing repair items such as T-posts, barbed wire and connections, contact Whitney Kolb at 254-768-9200.


FUEL DONATIONS

If you would like to donate Red Farm Diesel Fuel for the equipment needed to clear debris and brush or move hay for animals, call Cyndi Smith at 254-965-1326.

MONETARY DONATIONS Cash or checks will be accepted by the Erath County United Way by contacting 254-965-4429 and designating them to the home rebuild fund.


Gift cards will be accepted at the Erath County Sheriff’s Office or can be mailed to the Erath County Emergency Management at 100 W. Washington, Stephenville, TX 76401.


If you would like to assist your local volunteer fire department, you can contact them directly or send a check to the Erath County Firefighters Association, 830A East Rd, Stephenville, TX 76401.
