Active number of Covid-19 cases continues to decline as county expects 500 more doses of vaccine.

The number of new and active cases of Covid-19 remain relatively low after a months-long surge in Erath County.

County officials reported on Monday 15 new cases: eight in Stephenville, two in Dublin and five in the county.

The number of active cases is now 132 with three local hospitalizations.

Meanwhile, Stephenville’s health authority Dr. Kelly Doggett said the county is expecting its largest supply of vaccine to date.

“I have confirmation that we will receive 500 doses this week,” Dr. Doggett said. “I order the vaccine through my account, Convenient Care Family Medicine, and transfer all allocated doses to the city and county for administration.”

Stephenville Fire Chef Jimmy Chew said that once the county receives the vaccine, the vaccination center will reopen and residents will be contacted for appointment times.

“We will release that information when we have the vaccine in hand, which can be any time from Monday morning to Wednesday night,” Chew said.
